History, 1999

Founded in 1999, the Old Boys and Girls Hockey Club now runs 4 men’s and 3 ladies' sides. Based at the KCL Brockley Rise Sports Ground, all of the sides play in competitive leagues in London and the South East.

The Club is always looking to encourage new players to join with the standard ranging from the obsessively dedicated to the strictly social. Moreover, the Club’s long-standing ties with the current KCL and KCLMS hockey teams are stronger than ever to the point where nearly one third of the Club’s members are currently studying at the College.

The Club successfully completed its 15th season, one which saw a number of landmarks on and off the pitch. Away from the hockey, the long-awaited and eagerly-anticipated club house at Honor Oak Park was opened, making the ground a superb facility, providing a platform to host a range of brilliant events. So far these have included the Varsity hockey matches against UCL and the men's London Hockey League finals (hosted by the Club). We expect to see many more similar occasions at the ground over the coming years.

On the pitch, the Club fielded four men's and three ladies' sides. In total four teams won promotion from their leagues, two as champions, including ladies’ 1st and 2nd XIs, men’s 1st XI and men’s 4th XI who also won their London League Cup Final.

In time we aim to have at least one more men's and one more ladies' team, with the Club competing at the highest possible level without compromising the qualities that have carried the project this far. However, alumni hockey is already in excellent shape and well-positioned to drive and support the burgeoning success of hockey in the King's community. Against that backdrop, the ongoing support of KCLA remains invaluable.
